Meinl's HDJ1-XL is an extra large djembe from their Rope Tuned Headliner series. With a 13" drumhead diameter and a top-quality hand-selected goatskin drumhead, it produces a warm, rich sound. It uses an ancient Malinese weaving technique to keep the drumhead firmly attached to the shell, while durable PP nylon ropes keep the tension evenly distributed and contribute to the instrument's traditional look. Furthermore, the shell is carved from a single piece of mahogany. All these professional details result in a warm-sounding and highly durable djembe. Meinl produced another real pearl for committed djembe players.

Meinl HDJ1-XL: traditional carvings

On the bottom of the djembe, you'll find beautiful traditional carvings. Combined with the black finish, this gives the instrument a great authentic look.
